The Security Section in the British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Assistant Post Security Manager and Police Liaison Officer, Grade – A2 (L).

 

Purpose of the job:

Responsible to the Embassy Post Security Manager (PSM) for the day to day supervision of the physical security arrangements at the Embassy and all UK based staff accommodation. Also to overview and monitor radio and residential panic alarm system and overview SMS and WhatsApp emergency communication systems.  As required to act as translator for agreed Embassy staff and official visitors with Jordanian authorities.

 

Main Responsibilities:

• Overview day to day management of the guard contract service to the Embassy ensuring the contractor is able to perform agreed contract criteria reporting any anomalies to the Post Security Manager (PSM), UK based Overseas Security Manager (OSM) and/or Post Security Officer (PSO) in this case the Deputy Head of Mission.

• Liaison with the Jordanian authorities as required at all levels in order to maintain a high standard of co-operation and effective networking as is tasked by OSM and PSM.

• Ensuring security contractor is fulfilling agreed incident response to UK based staff and families when required.

• Ensuring UK Based residential VHF radio systems, panic alarms and overview SMS and WhatsApp emergency systems to ensure details are up to date and systems serviceable including regular testing.

• Act as translator with Jordanian police and linked civil authorities as instructed by PSM and OSM for agreed UK based staff and official visitors as is required.

Essential:
• Fluent oral and written English and Arabic
• Educated to Degree level
• Excellent team player
• Proven management skills in the security field
• Proven Liaison skills with experience of working with Jordanian police and/or military
• Literacy in Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable:
• 5 years experience in a similar field for example working with contract security firms, Embassies, police, civil defence and/or military.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The position is full-time, at 37 hours a week with considerations of flexibility depending on circumstances.

Pay is on the Embassy A2 (L) scale, starting at JOD 1075 per month depending on the candidate’s skills and experience. The package includes a good level of health insurance and a friendly, English-speaking work environment. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 21 days plus 14 public holidays.
