Main purpose of job:

Official transport is an important tool that allows the Japan Network to deliver a wide range of HMG (Her Majesty’s Government)’s objectives. The driver will provide safe and excellent driving services to the Ambassador, Embassy staff and VIP/VVIP visitors when required. Other responsibilities include vehicle maintenance, transport booking, and administrative support to the team.

公用車での移動手段は、英国大使館が英国政府の為に様々な活動を行う上で大切な役割を果たしています。運転手は大使、大使館職員並びに要人に、安全かつ素晴らしい送迎サービスを提供することが求められます。他の仕事内容には、車両整備、送迎の予約受付、関連する事務作業(チームサポート)が含まれます。


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

Role 1 (75% of your time)

運転 75%

You will drive an official vehicle safely and efficiently for official passengers, in line with Japanese laws and regulations. Your duties will include:

乗客をのせた公用車を安全かつ効率的に運転します。その際には日本の法令を遵守します。

業務には下記が含まれます。

  • Inspection - daily check of tyre pressures, hydraulic fluid, oil etc.
  • 毎日点検を行う:タイヤの空気圧、油圧油、ガソリン等
  • Keep vehicle clean, safe, and serviceable in your care
  • 車両を、清潔、安全、かつ乗客をのせられる状態に保つ
  • Make sure all passenger use seat-belts
  • 乗客のシートベルトの使用を徹底する
  • Record all journeys accurately
  •  運転記録を正確につける
  • Report any defects immediately
  • 何かあれば直ちに報告する
  • Act as a Messenger, and collect & deliver official letters in a careful manner
  • 細心の注意をもって、メッセンジャーとして、公式な書類を回収、届ける

You will be asked ensure the confidentiality of customers’ information (e.g. conversation in the vehicle), and not to disclose to any person.

Role 2 (20% of your time) 

事務 20%


You will manage transport bookings and provide administrative support to the Corporate Services team. For detail, you will handle a number of requests, by checking/updating the transport calendar, responding to emails/phone calls in English/Japanese, and reporting to the transport manager. 

運転の予約受付業務ならびに、管理部の事務作業を行います。具体的には、多くのリクエストを処理するにあたり、トランスポートカレンダーを確認・更新し、メールや電話に英語・日本語で対応し、トラスポートマネージャーに報告することが求められます。

You will need to build a good understanding of our transport policy. 

トランスポートに関する社内規程を理解することが必要です。

Role 3 (5% of your time)

You will be asked to do ad-hoc tasks as corporate contributions (e.g. preparation for a crisis, supporting receptions and events, etc) for the embassy. Detail is to be discussed with your line manager. 

その他の大使館業務として、例えばクライシス(災害等)のための準備やレセプションの手伝い等を頼まれることがあります。詳細については、直属の上司と都度相談になります。

Resources managed (staff and expenditure)

1-2 official vehicles will be assigned to you, to arrange insurance and car maintenance services.

1―2台の公用車を担当し、車両保険や車両整備を手配します。


Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed): 研修・トレーニングの機会:

The British Embassy offers comprehensive learning and development opportunities that will be fully available to the jobholder. We regularly run both work area specific training, as well as more general skills development in project management, finance, and leadership. Each year the job holder will be encouraged to use 5 development days to pursue job related and personal development goals.

All staff are required to take a role in the embassy’s crisis preparation and response. Full training will be provided for this and regular opportunities will be available to test and develop your skills.


英国大使館は包括的な研修を用意しており、従業員は利用可能です。特定の職務に関するトレーニングのほか、一般的なスキル(プロジェクトマネジメント、ファイナンス、リーダーシップ)のトレーニングも行っています。毎年、従業員は5日間の勤務日を仕事に関連した自己研鑽に当てることが推奨されています。

全従業員は大使館のクライシス(災害など)への準備や対応を行うことが求められます。十分なトレーニングが用意され、スキルを試したり向上させたりする機会が定期的にあります。


Working patterns: 勤務時間:


Office hour is 0900-1730, Monday to Friday. However, you will occasionally be asked to work during the out-of-office hour (e.g. 5 am, 11 pm) or to be ready as ‘on call’. It is desirable for you to be situated near the embassy (within 1h distance by car or public transport).Overtime will be paid by cash or by time off in lieu (you can take leave on alternative date).

When you have early morning appointment, you may finish the work earlier before 1730. Similarly, if you have evening appointment, you may come to the office later.


営業日は月曜日から金曜日(9時から17時30分まで)です。ただし、営業時間外(例えば5時や23時)の勤務、もしくは待機(オンコール)をお願いされることがあります。よって、大使館の近く(車や公共交通機関で1時間以内の距離)に居住されていることが望ましいです。時間外勤務については、現金手当を受け取るか、代替休暇を取ることができます。朝の乗車予約が入っている場合には、17時30分の前に勤務を終了できます。同様に、夕方の乗車予約が入っている場合には、遅く出勤することができます。
