Main purpose of job:

The British Consulate-General in Sao Paulo is seeking an intern who is passionate about marketing and communications. The person should be connected to the latest trends on social media and interested in a multinational experience. During internship, it is expected the person will develop professional skills while assisting the Marketing and Communications team.

This position is part of a team which creatively supports projects across a wide range of initiatives developed and implemented by the UK in Brazil Network. Amongst the main responsibilities of this role are: supporting branding and production activities, supporting promotional activities and events implementation, creating and developing social media content (including texts, videos and images), press and media engagement, news monitoring and reporting. The ideal candidate must have a personal ambition to grow and play a part in the continuing relation between the United Kingdom and Brazil.

The Intern will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the promotion of GREAT branding – dressing events, organising material, and supporting production/delivery/approval of marketing material, including intermediation between local sector teams and brand/production teams in HQ.
  • Support the Marketing Manager to ensure brand adherence to guidelines.
  • Giving support on events, official visits and marketing & comms initiatives, including branding, photo and digital coverage and the production of marketing materials.
  • Support the implementation of LATAC DIT marketing strategies.
  • Support the implementation of e-mail marketing and social media campaigns locally and regionally.
  • Work with LATAC network communications teams to support the development of effective digital/social media marketing campaigns.
  • Offer guidance to sector teams based on marketing best-practices.
  • Work in close liaison with partners as well as internal stakeholders (e.g.: LATAC Marketing Hub, commercial sector leads, communications team, Head Quarters, Visit Britain, British Council and others).
  • Contribute in special projects, accompanying the development and implementation of strategic marketing and comms plans.
  • Support the work of digital communication, by creating specific digital communications plans, implementing them and monitoring impacts. Collaborate in engagement with the media, by writing press releases and reports, preparing mailing lists and contacting journalists.

The candidate must be a 2nd or 3rd year student in Communication or Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertisement, international Affairs and correlated areas. Candidates from different courses could be considered pending their application and motivation for the job.

He/She must have excellent communication skills both in Portuguese (native) and English (advanced). Interest and knowledge of the UK culture and politics would be an advantage. Familiarity with social media networks channels such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn and knowledge of Office package are essential. Familiarity with e-mail marketing, design and visual communication tools would be a strong advantage. Knowledge in image and video edition is desirable, but not essential.

The successful candidate must also have good interpersonal communication skills, proactive and be a strong team-player. Organization skills and good attention to detail are desirable. The job position requires flexibility and a willingness and ability to deal with multiple tasks and priorities.
