The British Embassy, Kuwait is looking for a dynamic team player to take up the position of a Locally Engaged Social Media Intern, Grade – A2 (L) to start as soon as possible.

Purpose of the job:

  • Develop and publish social media content across our platforms
  • Work with PPAO to develop strategy to cover Embassy and Embassy-attended events
  • Co-ordinate across the Embassy platform to maximise social media impact
  • Monitor media channels and influencers on priority issues for Embassy

Duties and responsibilities:

The jobholder will be responsible for social media output for the Embassy, creating content, providing assistance to colleagues across the Embassy platform and monitoring our social media channels.

The jobholder will be expected to:

  • Create content in both Arabic and English for use on our social media platforms of Facebook; Twitter and; Instagram
  • Develop engagement strategy to promote Embassy events and HMG bilateral and multilateral priorities
  • Grow our audience through targeted media campaign focused on 120 Anniversary of UK-Kuwait Friendship Treaty

This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in a busy diplomatic mission at an important time for UK Kuwait relations. 2019 marks the 120th Anniversary of the signing of the UK – Kuwait Friendship Treaty and we are using this to engage in a year-long programme of events alongside our Kuwaiti hosts. The jobholder will have the opportunity to develop the existing social media campaign (#120KuwaitUK & #الكويت-بريطانيا120 عام ) and build on our current social media following.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English and Arabic;
  • Familiarity with a range of social media tools.
  • Current University student or recent (within two years) graduate
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of managing media campaigns

Working Conditions and Remuneration:

The position is full-time, at 37 hours a week with considerations of flexibility depending on circumstances.

The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and a stipend of KD 150 per month inclusive of all allowances for the role. The contract will be a Full Time, Internship for 2 months.

  • Complete local security checks.
