Who are we?

The British Embassy in Sofia is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Corporate Services Officer & PA to DHM.

As part of the Corporate Services Team, this role provides high quality support and customer service to internal and external stakeholders of the British Embassy Sofia, including on protocol questions. In addition, the job holder provides personal assistance to the DHM in organising and co-ordinating tasks from different teams and providing diary management support.

  • Responsible for the Embassy’s official mailbox and switchboard, which requires working with different Embassy teams and other resources and submitting well researched responses;
  • Management of the transport schedule, including weekly drivers’ programmes, booking of official vehicles and dealing with mileage queries;
  • Language Officer – responsible for organising all Bulgarian language training at Post, immersion trainings and coordinating entitlement of the staff;
  • Protocol work, including liaising with the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on various matters, such as visa requirements, drafting of notes verbales, and preparing the set of documents needed for the issuance of diplomatic identity cards;
  • Personal Assistant (PA) to the Deputy Head of Mission;
  • Provision of other administrative services;

Our ideal candidate shows:

  • Proficiency in Bulgarian and English (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level according to CEFR*)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse interlocutors, including internal stakeholders, government officials and the general public
  • Strong organisational skills and experience in prioritising tasks and working towards deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure and conflict resolution skills - calm handling of schedule clashes and urgent changes

  • Cultural Awareness - sensitivity to protocol and local norms
  • Discretion and Integrity
  • Experience with MS office suite: Word, Outlook and TEAMS

Nice to have:

  • Experience or knowledge of working in an international environment and/or diplomatic mission;
  • Experience in diary management and acting as a personal assistant.

The successful candidate will receive a non-negotiable monthly salary of 1373 EUR gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata.
