The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional HR Hub has a vacancy for a Regional HR Advisor to be based at the British Embassy Abu Dhabi. This is for a fixed-term contract of three (3) years.

The Regional HR Advisor will lead and manage a best practice HR consultancy service to line managers and staff at British diplomatic missions within the Middle East and North Africa Directorate. Providing strategic support, building stakeholder engagement and guidance on all ER matters across the region. Driving continuous improvement through the use of data driven insights and change initiatives. Be an excellent team player with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing customer-focused HR advisory service across the entire employee lifecycle,
  • Providing accurate and appropriate Employee Relations advice and guidance based on FCDO policies, guidelines and relevant local labour laws,
  • Developing understanding of the organisation and its context; using these insights to tailor solutions and interventions, to meet organisational needs now and in the future,
  • Providing data driven insights to support and drive continuous business improvement and mitigate potential risks,
  • Leading and managing projects end-to-end; applying process and project management skills to deliver effective and cost-efficient HR solutions; managing the change process,
  • As an HR Professional, enhancing the Regional HR Hub presence across the region through own efforts and through continuous stakeholder engagement,
  • Collaborating with Missions to devise and implement practical and timely interventions that will help to create an environment that is conducive to genuine engagement of staff, using engagement data to inform plans that will address critical concerns and drive sustainable organisational performance,
  • Working collaboratively with the HR Team within the Hub and establishing working relationships within the HR Network locally and in the UK
  • Managing, guiding and supporting the assigned team member(s),
  • Seeking continuous improvement, challenging current practice and suggesting innovative solutions.

Resources Managed:

  • 1 x regional recruitment officer

The above list is not exhaustive and the job holder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy emergency planning and any response to a crisis.

  • CIPD / GPHR / SHRM or equivalent qualified, or actively studying towards these.
  • At least 2/3 years of experience in an HR generalist/advisory/business partner role.
  • Specialisation in Employee Relations, Organisation Development and Performance Management
  • Knowledge of local employment law (working knowledge of the MENA Region would be a distinct advantage).
  • Previous recruitment experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Able to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely, both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Ability to work independently and to take the initiative as well as being able to manage and work well with others in a team.
  • IT literate and well versed in the use of Microsoft Office applications and has capability in using HR systems
  • The ability to travel, and obtain any required visas, within the region.
  • Bachelor’s Degree HR, Business, or related studies
  • Experience in a shared service/regional environment
  • Fluency in other languages of the region (eg Arabic).

Working hours and remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated pro-rata).

Salary is at AED 17,424 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:00. Conditioned working hours are 35 hours per week and specific working hours for this role will be confirmed at a later time.

The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.

Process:

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two - three months.
