The Department for International Trade (DIT) at the British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for a Regional Coordinator, MEAP (Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan).

We are looking for an extremely capable individual to deliver a high standard of support to the MEAP Regional Manager, incoming HMTC (Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner), and the regional teams from within DIT’s Regional Hub based in Dubai, UAE.

This position will see the jobholder exposed to Ministers (at times), Ambassadors, and employees of large British and local companies, as well as our diverse regional team and strong communication skills are essential. The jobholder will also be required to arrange various events in the UAE, the UK and possibly elsewhere within the region. They will need to engage with suppliers, guests and other stakeholders and a high level of resilience, patience and persistence is needed. 


Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Proactively develop and maintain good relations with all DIT staff across the MEAP region and in HQ, understand the regional priorities and objectives and how all contribute to these.
  • Collate regional information keeping all up to date, relevant, and accessible, including: events calendar, organograms, contact database, targets, subscriptions, newsletters, etc.
  • Lead and/or coordinate on regional VIP and ministerial visits through liaison with ministerial office/s, HQ, posts and sector teams, ensuring visits are effectively structured and meet objectives. Coordination with Arabic Media Hub/ Press & Public Affairs (PPA) where appropriate. 
  • Planning, organisation and support for the Regional Hub’s key events, including Gulf Tour to the UK; Britain in the Region in Dubai and Ambassador Speaker events.
  • Provide support for business planning, regional trade plan, budgetary and performance measurement processes for the region. 
  • Undertake all required purchasing and receiving for the Regional Hub and maintain accurate financial records for events, expenditure and sponsorship funds. 
  • Recognise own skills and knowledge gaps to inform the development plan. Be able to share relevant learning with the team and with colleagues and contribute to the team’s shared learning and understanding.
  • Maintain focus on delivering timely responses with energy and positivity, taking ownership for quality outcomes and dealing with challenges in a responsive, flexible and constructive way.
  • On occasion, attending out of hours social networking functions and evening receptions; other tasks as required by the Regional Manager or HMTC; take part in the Embassy's emergency planning and any response to a crisis affecting UK citizens.

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: 25 days of annual leave per annum, on-site parking and on-site swimming pool, gymnasium, and sports facilities.

Salary is at AED 11,108 per month.

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 14:30 from Sunday to Thursday.

The successful candidate should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as there may be some work out of hours required during events and visits.

Process:
