Main purpose of job:

To support with all the IT equipment located in the Universal area (including laptops, workstations, printers, etc.) and troubleshoot all Universal Tier staff (UK-based and CBS) with software/hardware assistance on Firecrest and standalone terminals. This includes proactively identifying solutions to foreseen and unforeseen problems to avoid major negative impacts on IT systems at post, whilst also maintaining regular contact with all sections of the Embassy and external providers.

A high level of problem solving, troubleshooting skills and excellent customer service are required in this position.

The internship’s minimum time is 6 months.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Support and assist with Firecrest and standalone IT equipment. When Firecrest IT machinery presents faults report them to the IT Help Desk.
  • Support and troubleshoot all Universal area staff (UK-based and LE) with software/hardware assistance in the Firecrest and standalone networks.
  • Solve problems related to network connectivity in computers, printers, etc, and report them to the Helpdesk or local contractors for further assistance if necessary.
  • Manage and have an up-to-date inventory of IT Firecrest equipment at post.
  • Manage and have an up-to-date mobile inventory of official mobiles at post (for UK and LE staff).
  • Responsible, creative, good communication and well organised and committed to the job. Works well under pressure and against deadlines, able to deal effectively with stressful and difficult situations,
  • Excellent time management skills.

Essential on arrival:

  • Excellent organisational skills; attention to detail; resilience – the ability to work under pressure; strong team player.
  • Excellent communications skills, responsible and committed.
  • Currently enrolled in the last semesters of university degree in IT.
  • Available full-time and able to work sporadically on nights and weekends when maintenance or urgent IT works requires it.
  • Sociable, able to interact and collaborate with different teams.
  • Works well under pressure and against deadlines, able to deal effectively with stressful and difficult situations
  • Spanish (native), English (minimum B2 certified with IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Teams, Outlook and related programmes).
  • Knowledge of virtual connectivity programmes and Internet connection at home (if working from home required on some occasions).
