An Overview:

The British Embassy in Tirana is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic, commercial and consular interests overseas. We are currently looking for a Estates and Compliance Officer.  

The Estates and Compliance Officer will manage the operational delivery of estates and health & safety. The role helps ensure smooth supervision of project works, preventative and reactive maintenance of the facilities and the organisation of arrival and departure process.  Additionally, the job holder will manage Estate support staff.

The Role Encompasses:

Estates Operations (50%)

  • Monitor and maintain a planned preventative works register and schedule/respond efficiently to reactive work requests in collaboration with the Estates Manager.
  • Acting as the initial escalation and contact point for staff queries.  
  • Focus on effective customer service, ensuring that the estates team is providing a professional service in line with the post corporate services charter.
  • Manage and maintain the arrivals and departure process.  

Compliance (20%)

  • Manage inventory and warehouse stock.
  • Perform and document property inspections and hazard risk assessments for both residential and office estate in coordination with the Estates Manager.
  • Ensure that the Estate's systems and data are maintained and verified on a regular basis.

Health & Safety (20%)

  • Work closely with Estate Manager to manage health & safety related issues, ensuring full compliance with FCO and local legislation.
  • Report any risks proactively to the Estates Manager.
  • Deliver health and safety policy implementation, training and standards.
  • Be the appointed health and safety coordinator.

Team Support (10%)

  • Assist other members of the Corporate Services team as required.
  • Participate in post crisis activity.

Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • Fluency in English and Albanian, including good writing skills (written and spoken, minimum of B2 level in English and C1 level in Albanian; according to CEFR framework*);
  • Flexibility, creativity and ability to learn quickly and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to take the initiative as well as being able to work well with others.
  • Customer service skills, high attention to detail, and ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Resilient with the ability to deal with pressure and with work flexibility in order to manage competing demands.
  • In possession of Driving License with a clean record (Category B).
  • Good command of MS Office

Good to have:

  • Degree in a relevant area would be advantageous. 
  • Working experience in an Estates/Facility role.
  • Health and Safety knowledge.
  • Experience in overseeing maintenance teams.

This is for a full time employment, on a fixed term basis for one-year with possibility of renewal.

Working patterns:

This is a full-time position of 5 days (36 hours net per week). Embassy working hours are from 08.30-17:00 from Monday to Thursday and 08.30-14:30 on Friday.
