Main purpose of job:


Provide support to both the Regional Director and Head of Trade and Investment in Washington, and the wider DIT team of 11 staff, with administration, events and communications work.


Roles and responsibilities:

     

This role is positioned at the heart of the embassy in one of its busiest teams. The role has a heavy administrative focus that is key to the trade and investment team functioning effectively, which includes liaising with other embassy teams and producing management returns for DIT’s US headquarters office in New York. The role also has excellent opportunities to run high profile events, undertake communications work, as well as other projects which can develop project management skills. The individual will learn about trade and investment (supporting the head of trade and investment for the DC team) and learn about change management through supporting the regional director for trade.

 

A cross-section of key functions include:

•           Arrange and coordinate schedules, meetings, travel, briefings and presentations for the Regional Director and Head of Trade and Investment

•           Coordinate administrative tasks and marketing activities

•           Manage the DIT DC and Regional Director budgets

•           Assist the Regional Director and Head of DIT DC with reporting on team management targets and support on client relationship management needs

•           Manage events at the British Embassy with high profile UK and US companies/brands

•           Serve as the DIT liaison to other government departments including Economics, Foreign Policy, and Prosperity Teams

•           Monitor and report DIT activity through wider Embassy and US Network through timely contributions to internal reports and actively participating in Embassy communications meetings

•           Facilitate company, VIP, and Ministerial visit programmes and mobilise internal resources or colleagues as appropriate

•           Perform support function on wider team initiatives as requested by the Head of the Team and Regional Director;
