 A vacancy has arisen at the British High commission for a B3 Trade Development Manager. The position is graded at B3 for which the current salary starts at TZS 2,674,674 per month before deduction of tax .This   job is part of a team of 4 UKTI staff covering Tanzania. UKTI Tanzania is   part of a wider UKTI East Africa team which consists of Kenya, Uganda and   Ethiopia in addition to Tanzania. Sectoral work will be part of the larger East Africa work and the successful candidate will be required to work with  colleagues stretching over and above Tanzania. The successful candidate will   also be asked to work alongside colleagues with the FCO and DFID in Tanzania   as part of one HMG and more specifically feeding into the UK-Tanzania High   Level Prosperity Partnership (HLPP).

 

Main purpose of job:

To manage trade services within the UKTI team in   Tanzania, lead and manage on all in-coming trade missions, in-country events   and manage our customer relationships through our internal customer database.   Lead on developing stronger business links between the UK and Tanzania within   the Renewable Energy sector as well as working alongside the Head of UKTI   Tanzania in supporting the oil and gas sector.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead on and   support all in-coming trade missions and in-country trade events. These   events are crucial for delivery of our service delivery targets. All events   should be delivered at a high standard with maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Act as the first   point of contact for British businesses visiting the country. Provide advice   to potential businesses and investors, highlighting commercially related   opportunities and developments.
  • Maintain an   effective network of contacts, especially in the Renewable Energy and   Agriculture sector, across Tanzanian government ministries, relevant   organisation/associations and the private sector and work up a pipeline of   projects within the sectors.
  • Provide support   and work alongside the Head of UKTI Tanzania, contributing towards the East   Africa Oil and Gas High Value Campaign (HVC) in delivering export wins in   line with the department’s set targets.
  • Lead on and   undertake research work to produce high quality reports on trade and   investment opportunities and ensure UKTI Customer Relationship Management   (CRM) targets are met through the promotion of UKTI services.
  • Ensure all   market related documents e.g. trade briefs, business risk documents and   others are updated regularly and uploaded on the Tanzania country website to   ensure update to date information is being shared.
  • Act as the UKTI   focal point for developing and maintaining relationships with the local trade   associations.
  • Bachelor’s   degree in Business Administration or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years full-time professional experience, preferably in international business or marketing
  • Excellent research and report writing skills, ability to speak credibly to senior representatives of public and private sector organisations, ability to  prioritise, effectively manage and execute multiple tasks to a high standard, both through individual and team delivery. 
  • Knowledge  of UK and Tanzania domestic/foreign affairs is desirable
  • Attention to detail and good follow up discipline
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative team  environment.

  • An introduction to UKTI will be given to the successful candidate in order to  understand their role better (this will only be for the successful  Candidate).
  • Several  mandatory FCO e-learning modules will also need to be completed in order to under the wider FCO role and how we work jointly.
  • On the job mentoring   will be provided by the Head of UKTI Tanzania
