View Vacancy - IT Support Officer (CZE18.324)
The British Embassy in Czech Republic is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for an IT Support Officer.
The main purpose of the job is: maintain the Embassy IT systems, advise staff on the FCO information management policy and processes, and occasionally support the Embassy security team, in cooperation with local and regional colleagues.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Maintain the Embassy’s computer network and provide support for users. Monitor system performance and help to resolve IT problems, with support from the UK Help Desk and other IT specialists. Maintain and provide support for non-network (standalone) IT and communications systems;
- Provide support in maintaining the Embassy’s intranet/SharePoint;
- Provide basic support with communications (telephony and video conferencing);
- Maintain inventories for official IT and audio-visual equipment. Deal with IT related procurement as necessary, including the use of FCO internal procurement system;
- Provide support to the security team with operating the gatehouse, if required during peak times of the day shifts. Act as cover for the Head Guard in resetting the CCTV system and supervising the Embassy security systems.
- Experience with working on and administering Microsoft servers, website maintenance, LAN maintenance (both Ethernet and Wi-Fi, including the network security)
- Excellent knowledge of common IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Windows 10)
- Good knowledge of IT peripherals
- Ability to maintain android smart phones (both hardware and software)
- A very good command of English and Czech is essential
- Understanding the principles of good information management
- Minimum educational requirements are high school degree (“maturita”), possibly higher, ideally specialized in IT
- Creative thinking, flexibility, attention to detail
- Intrinsic curiosity, ability and willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues in the region
- Very good, proven organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills across all levels
- Pro-active, using one’s own initiative to find solutions and responsive to changing priorities
- Reliable
- Experience in working with MAC OS
This is a part-time position for a fixed-term contract of 2 years.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance. The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for the Czech Republic in order to apply.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Czech Republic are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Czech Republic employment law.
