Communications, Press and Media
  • To drive the High Commission’s digital communications work and carry out digital diplomacy for all sections operating in the High Commission, incorporating all aspects of the UK’s role in Fiji and other Pacific Islands. 
  • To work closely with the High Commission’s Communication and Political Officer within the Communications Section to develop eye-catching and innovative content for the British High Commission’s social media channels. 
  • To manage a range of activities including setting up and maintaining dedicated digital channels, drafting social media plans and messaging, developing content calendars, and creating engaging online material (e.g. infographics, videos, audios).
  • To lead on BHC events

Social Media

  • Drafting social media plans and messaging, developing content calendars and conducting digital campaigns.
  • Liaising with external and internal partners for integrated online and offline campaigns.
  • Creating engaging online material (e.g. infographics, HTML5, creative imagery and video content).
  • Providing data analysis and evaluation of the British High Commission’s digital media activities.
  • Reviewing new technologies and exploring new developments in the digital landscape to ensure the High Commission’s communications exploit emerging trends and remain relevant to their audience.
  • Weekly briefing of the political team, including the High Commissioner, on social media trends.

Website

  • To cover maintenance work for the High Commission’s external website (gov.uk/world/Fiji) together with the Web Editor
  • Checking and uploading content to the website with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Liaising with relevant sections on specific web projects
  • Liaising with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Asia-Pacific Web Hub for any relevant subjects

Events

  • Supported by the wider team, lead on the organisation of BHC events including the Queen’s Birthday Party

Covering wider communications work

  • To work in the wider Communications team and support other team members when needed during extremely busy period.

IT Support Officer   (ITSO)

  • Maintain and support IT equipment/infrastructure and telephony for all staff (training will be provided).
  • Act as the focal point of contact for all ICT issues and interface with UK and other stakeholders
  • Ensure the security of the systems against potential breaches of security
  • Extensive experience of social media and a communications or media environment
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Qualification in PR/Communication/IT
  • Video and/or photo editing skills.
  • Graphic Designing#
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Background in IT
