View Vacancy - Support Officer (PRT18.385)
The British Embassy in Lisbon is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Support Officer: Reception, Driving, Administrative Work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reception duties;
- Deal with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner, in person, on the telephone or via e-mail, for e.g. answering telephones, transferring calls, attending to the public and checking in visitors, liaison with internal customers on conference room bookings, arranging transport or taxi bookings, liaison with security guards on visitor arrivals;
- Driving duties;
- Assisting departments with set up for events in conference rooms or residence, including set-up of IT equipment;
- IT support: co-ordinate IT shipments, packaging and despatch;
- Supervising contractors on delivery of supplies or during works;
- Provide general administrative support;
- Carry out instructions given by the management team.
- Excellent command of English and Portuguese (both oral and written);
- Excellent Driving Skills – Clean driving licence;
- IT – Proficient use of Excel ,Word, Outlook.
- Previous experience in public customer service position;
- Service in Armed Forces, Security forces.
This is a temporary full-time contract (35 net per week) to cover indirectly for maternity leave subject to a 30 days probation period. The British Embassy in Lisbon aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role of €15,574.72 gross annual salary paid in fourteen instalments, provided that the individual in question is subject to individual income tax (IRS) in Portugal on the employment income in question or, alternatively, is subject to income tax on such income in the UK, plus € 134 monthly meal allowance.

All staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Portugal are subject to local Portuguese employment law as well as internal regulations in force at any given time.
The successful candidate will be subject to a professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Portugal in order to apply.
