The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has set up an HR Shared Services Centre (HR Hub) in Lisbon. The HR Hub, operating from the British Embassy in Lisbon, is responsible for delivering effective Corporate HR Services (Recruitment, Pay and Benefits, Talent and Performance Management and others) to Embassies and subordinate offices across 50 countries in Europe and Central Asia.

The HR Hub forms an integral part of the global HR offer to staff working in the overseas network for the FCO, and leads on all local and regional HR issues. In partnership with the London HR Directorate, the Hub also offers strategic and professional HR capability to senior leaders in the organisation, in order to deliver business objectives across the organisation.

The British Embassy in Lisbon is looking for an intern to assist the Human Resources Hub Team in the Regional Corporate Services Hub based in Lisbon by providing administrative/clerical support in HR Hub activities.

We are looking for an individual who has good interpersonal skills, some HR Knowledge, proactive approach, good time management and contribute ideas and ways of ensuring high quality results.

The successful candidate needs to be highly motivated, flexible and know how to prioritise accordingly. The job-holder will need to be fluent in English and Portuguese, with the ability to work with people at all levels in a fast paced environment.

Main roles and responsibilities:

Recruitment

  • Monitor Job Applications Inbox by replying to candidates’ queries and/or forwarding the query to the relevant HR Officer who is leading the recruitment process;
  • Monitor HR recruitment database;
  • Produce recruitment Management information;
  • Support HR Officers in admin related tasks (i.e., as scheduling interviews, drafting job offer letters).

Pay & Benefits

  • Support the Pay and benefits team with annual salary and benefits benchmarking across Europe, including collecting data, analysing information and highlighting issues;
  • Prepare presentations and supporting materials for key stakeholders.

HR management information:

  • Develop and produce HR Metrics and reports;
  • Analyse key information and make recommendations.

JEGS (Job Evaluation and Grading Support):

  • JEGS tracking and filling.
• Degree in Human Resources or related field;
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese;
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• A team player, able to work with colleagues at all levels;
• Manage time effectively under own direction and prioritise tasks;
• Ability to deliver results;
• Ability to respond flexibly and creatively;
• Good IT skills: Microsoft Office tools, particularly with Excel Spreadsheet.

This is a full-time internship contract for 6 months, for 5 working days (35 hours net) per week. Monthly internship (EUR) will be €580 plus €134 monthly meal allowance.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Portugal in order to apply.
