Main purpose of job:

2018 marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UK and Vietnam.  We will use the anniversary to deliver a 6 month campaign of acidity designed to boost the UK’s brand in Vietnam, support business, increase UK influence and promote Global Britain.  The campaign will cover the main urban centres, particularly the political capital of Hanoi and the business capital of Ho Chi Minh City. The campaign will have a whole of mission approach to deliver additional reach, synergies and resources. Common branding and key messages will be used throughout the year. The approach will be for a series of targeted events to build momentum towards major public facing activities in October that can bring together all the UK stakeholders in Global Britain themed Festivals in iconic parts of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These will attract 100s of thousands of people to experience personally what Britain has to offer in Vietnam and, via the media, will be projected to a national audience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day planning of the event and work closely with the GREAT campaign lead to deliver the British Festival.  You will need to have skills and experience to enable you to work with a range of stakeholders, including government officials, suppliers and business.   

Good team working and interpersonal and communication skills are essential to ensure tasks are completed quickly and effectively.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • GREAT British Festival: Deliver the day to day tasks for the festival - work closely with the Comms to develop a high impact comms plan.  Be the point of contact for local authority, suppliers, and participants.  Co-ordinate work with Embassy, HCMC, British Council and BBGV staff.
  • GREAT campaign 2018: Provide support to event leads of GREAT activities where needed.  Identify risks and escalate to head of team. 
  • Monitoring and Evaluating: Draft the lessons learned checklist.
  • GREAT campaign 2019:  Work with the head of team to design the GREAT campaign for 2019
  • Tasking: Manage the interns

  • Proven experience of event management
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and multi-task effectively
  • Good team-working skills and the ability to develop productive relationships with other teams around the network
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience
  • Familiarity with UK culture
