Main Purpose of Job:

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) entered into a partnership in 2018. The partnership is led by a Strategic Adviser who started in country in September 2018.

The partnership aims to support GSS to deliver on its vision “to be a global leader in the provision of quality statistical services”. GSS see the UK as a natural partner to enable them to make improvements on their governance structures and policies in order for them to modernise their operations and improve evidence-based decision making by stakeholders. ONS is supporting GSS in four key areas: Build a responsive, capable and motivated human resource which is based on a revised institutional structure, mobilise financial resources and cost control to bridge funding gaps, Data capability - ensure full integration of ICT solutions and create an inter-operable, capacitated and resourceful NSS, Improve the production and use of Official Statistics for national development and planning.

The partnership model relies on deploying technical expertise from the ONS, as well as taking advantage of support from other organisations with the appropriate expertise. To effectively deploy this expertise and deliver on the workplan, a substantial amount of networking and collaboration is required both with internal GSS stakeholders as well as externally with both State and non- state actors in the data ecosystem. The Project Delivery Officer will be instrumental in managing, leading and the implementation of several high-level support portfolios.
