View Vacancy - New Media Officer (ROU18.403)
The British Embassy in Bucharest is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking to recruit a New Media Officer to manage British Embassy Bucharest digital/online channels, and provide wider support for the Communications team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Manage Embassy social media and online channels (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.) according to the Post digital strategy. Monitor the channels and report impact data. Organise online events. Produce digital content, including video (using Adobe In Design, Adobe Premiere Elements, photo and video editing programmes). Contact building with social media influencers.
PUBLIC DIPLOMACY
- Contribute to public diplomacy projects under the coordination of senior media and press officers. Provide cover for senior media officers as required. Operate the design and coordinate the production of branding products (business cards, flyers, banners etc.). Coordinate responses to public inquiries (email/social media/letters).
RESOURCES ACCOUNTING
- Conduct general administrative tasks, including corporate payments (online annual subscriptions), management of contacts databases, and other responsibilities as required.
- A university degree in Journalism, Public relations/Communication or related fields;
- 1 year work and/or internship experience in communications and/or mass media;
- Relevant digital experience (video & photo editing, graphic design, analytics; web 2.0 tools handling);
- Experience in event planning;
- Good drafting skills;
- Fluency in Romanian both oral and written. Excellent English both oral and written;
- Creativity, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and pro-activity;
- Ability to operate in teams and independently;
- Capability of working well under pressure.
- Relevant contacts in social media.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months (35 hours net per week) with possibility of renewal by mutual agreement. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked.
The annual leave entitlement is 21 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Romanian / UK public holidays per year.
Monthly salary is 4,048 RON gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata and may receive a performance related bonus at year end. Staff also receive meal vouchers and a monthly subscription to a medical centre. An individual personal development plan will be agreed with the successful candidate, which may include training outside Romania.
For your information whilst the Emergency Ordinance 79/2017 is in place the job holder will receive a gross monthly compensation bonus of RON 805.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of 30 working days.
