The British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for a temporary position of Corporate Services Assistant, Grade – A1 (L).


Purpose of the job:
Working as part of the Embassy’s Corporate Services Team you will be responsible for providing high quality and customer focussed corporate services to all staff in Amman and act as the Language Officer for administering optional language training for UK based staff.  This is an excellent temporary opportunity within a small and fast-paced team for someone with a proven track record in customer service, preferably in a similar role or demonstrating the skills needed to work in the field of service delivery.


Main Responsibilities:

Corporate Services Assistant (100%):
Keep a track of utility payments for properties, processing invoices and ensuring continuity of supply.  Monitor trends in utility usage across properties (Water, Electricity, Diesel, Gas) providing the Head of Estates with a monthly report on utility consumption and issues.  Adding and removing utility meters from our account with the utility companies as necessary to ensure we are being correctly billed.
• Act as an agent between the Embassy staff and Telecommunication companies for mobile phones, and prepare handsets and SIMs for new arrivals and their families.
• Arrange hotel bookings for official visits and new arrivals.
• Process requisitions and ensure receipting is carried out for all purchases on PRISM (Oracle).
• Handle the process of receiving and despatching diplomatic mail
• Handle all, and respond to stationary requests within the Embassy

Essential:
• Fluent communication skills in English and Arabic language (both written and spoken, this will be tested).
• Strong organisational and administrative experience.
• Bachelor in Business Administration (emphasis Accounting and Finance is desirable)
• At least 2 year of experience in a similar job (customer service/administration).
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Proven track record in a customer facing role.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The position is full-time, at 37 hours a week with considerations of flexibility depending on circumstances.


This is a full time, fixed term position for 5 months; commencing from November 2018 until April 2019.


Pay is on the Embassy A1 (L) scale, with a salary of JOD 770 per month. The package includes a good level of health insurance and a friendly, English-speaking work environment. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 25 days (pro-rated) plus 14 public holidays.

• Receive the appropriate level of standard security clearance;
• Have (or be willing to obtain) the right to live and work in Jordan. Candidate's residence permit and work permit, and the expense to obtain them, will be their own responsibility.
