Main purpose of job:


The British Embassy is looking for an HR Coordinator to support the work of the Human Resources Team in Washington, DC. The position requires a detail oriented and enthusiastic person.   He/she will be joining a team responsible for overall HR services and best practices within a complex organization serving approximately 900 members of staff in 14 different locations across the US.

 



Roles and responsibilities:


  • Coordinate Employee Induction (orientation) including leading presentations, arranging the schedule, confirming attendance, giving embassy tours and preparing materials.
  • Ensure employee compliance by verifying all mandatory HR training and new hire documentation has been properly submitted.
  • Provide first level customer service for all benefit enquiries.
  • Data entry into our internal workforce system for processing new hires and internal transfers.
  • Manage the HR team’s recordkeeping by maintaining excel worksheets and filing systems while ensuring records retention guidelines are followed.
  • Provide support for our locally engaged Spot Bonus Program by scheduling meetings and communicating results.
  • Follow up on incomplete timecard submissions.
  • Coordinate health and wellness events, as needed.
  • Assist the Community Liaison Officer, as needed.
  • Work on other duties as assigned by the HR team.

 

Experience:


  • 3+ years experience or college degree in an HR related field.
  • Worked in a fast paced environment delivering excellent customer service.

Skills:


  • Ability to work autonomously and apply innovative thought to a wide range of issues.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and follow-up on outstanding issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
