The British Embassy, Israel has a vacancy for the position of Fintech Manager - UK Israel Tech Hub, Grade – B3 (L).

Overview of the role:

An excellent opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated individual to join the innovative UK Israel Tech Hub (UKITH), in a management position to lead on the UKITH’s work in the Fintech Sector.

About the UK Israel Tech Hub (UKITH)

The UKITH helps drive economic growth in both countries by helping British and Israeli companies partner in technology and innovation. The goal is to create partnerships in which British companies help Israeli innovation go global, and Israeli innovation gives British companies a global competitive edge.

The UKITH was launched in October 2011 at the British Embassy Israel, following an agreement between Prime Ministers Cameron and Netanyahu to build a UK-Israel partnership in technology. The Hub is a high-profile successful pilot for the UK government aimed at developing new methods of commercial diplomacy and prides itself on becoming a resident expert on the Israeli market for the benefit of UK companies seeking innovation. To date the Hub has facilitated over 200 innovation partnerships worth over GBP 1B to the UK economy.

The Fintech Manager will assume primary responsibility for identifying opportunities, creating high-profile platforms for collaboration and facilitating mutually beneficial links between Israeli Fintech companies and UK stakeholders primarily from the banking and insurance industries. The Fintech Manager will be the Fintech expert in a team based both in Israel and the UK, which includes a Director, dedicated sector managers and a strong operations unit.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the Hub’s work in the Fintech sector, delivering on an ambitious strategy and further developing it, identifying new strategic partnerships and pursuing business opportunities between British and Israeli companies and innovators in the field.
  • Initiate, plan and execute activities to facilitate business collaboration and to raise awareness of opportunities. These include business delegations, conferences and networking events, attracting the best industry players and opinion leaders. Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partner organisations on these activities.
  • Manage the Fintech’s annual budget. Create an annual forecast, track and report financial activity throughout the year.
  • Maintain sector expertise and a network of contacts with relevant decision makers, companies, entrepreneurs, experts and investors in Israel and the UK.  Ability to open doors, understand business needs, identify opportunities for collaboration and attract partners for delivery.
  • Facilitate introductions and follow up to convert leads and opportunities into concrete business outcomes. Track, monitor and report these in a timely way.
  • Represent the Hub and the UK – Israel tech partnership publicly and in writing, and convincingly present the opportunities for collaboration via the Hub.

Essential:

  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English and basic operational knowledge of Hebrew – a must. Knowledge of Arabic will be an advantage.
  • More than 3 years of experience working in business development, digital marketing, consulting, finance, project management or similar roles.
  • An acquaintance with the tech / entrepreneurship landscape in Israel.
  • Candidate must have some International experience.
  • Strong presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Can work creatively, strategically and independently yet a high contributor in a team environment.
  • Strong business acumen. A real people’s person, charismatic and impressionable.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Highly motivated, passionate about innovation and technology.
  • Open and clear communicator, excellent networking skills including across cultures.
  • A track record of success and demonstrated ability to deliver results.
  • Enthusiasm to work as part of a small, agile, ambitious team – a “start-up within government”.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the ability to quickly learn new programmes.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Israeli Fintech sector.
  • Bringing a personal business network from Israel and/or from the UK.
  • Experience organising events.
  • Management of budget and complex projects in a matrix environment.
  • Business knowledge of the UK.
  • Native in Google Docs, CRM systems, any other project management tool.

Working Hours and Remuneration: 

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including the non-negotiable salary of NIS 11,509 per month plus social benefits. The initial contract will be for one year with a possibility of renewal and the successful candidate will be on a four-month probationary period.  Parking facilities are not provided or paid for by the embassy.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30, flexibility will be required including evening events, some travel locally and occasional travel to the UK.

Eligibility:

If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:

  • Receive the appropriate level of security clearance;
  • Candidates must be able to work legally in Israel.
