Main purpose of job:

  • This is a diverse and interesting role with regional responsibility for operational visa work (approx 60%) and a newly introduced remit for establishing a network of key business stakeholders and a communications plan to support wider HMG visa related prosperity work in West Africa (approx 40%);
  • The successful candidate will manage workflow through UKVI offices in Nigeria and Ghana. You will be responsible for ensuring service turnarounds are maintained, and that our quality of work meets the highest standards of customer service in line with our commitments globally;
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders, both internal within 1HMG and external UK Visa customers. This will include the preparation and delivery of presentation material to support outreach activity across West Africa, and this part of the role will require some travel in and around the region 

Roles and responsibilities:

  •  Responsibility for operational performance daily across UKVI offices in Nigeria and Ghana;
  •  Regional lead to ensure vignette management and control processes are secure to meet operational demands;
  •  Manage the facilitation and special handling process for sensitive and important cases, and ensure effective communication to key stakeholders;
  •  Development and implementation of a new preferred partnership scheme (in collaboration with DIT) and network of key stakeholders for UKVI in collaboration with Partners Across Government. Be proactive in making and maintaining business relationships to determine customer needs and potential service gaps;
  • Direction and line management to operational teams

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Able to establish and maintain a network of business relationships
  • High level of organisational and coordination skills, including the need to prioritise, manage performance, and proactively identify and resolve problems
  • Good standard of written English
  • Previous experience in client/customer relations, and maintaining and supporting a network of contacts
  • Previous experience working in a Visa Section or official Government office
  • Knowledge and experience in public speaking and preparing/using presentation material
