Main purpose of job:

The Jobholder with the direction of the Estates Foreman will be responsible for all 1st Level and 2nd Level Metal Welding and Metal works within the BDHC Lagos Estates. Work with the Estates Foreman in the implementing of safe Metal works repairs and replacement of corroded metal frames as part of Post Compliance Report and Safe use of the Estates Aging metal works, fabricated metal works based on work request sent to the Estates Helpdesk.


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve? :

  • Welds fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment with the use of welding Machine, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes in order to execute jobs and tasks to specification
  • understands and implement personal and company safety measures by wearing specialized goggles, helmets, heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, safety shoes and monitors work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalation in accordance with health and safety requirements that are fully compliant with FCO Standards
  • Assesses equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods
  • Monitors equipment(welding Machine) for appropriate usage and temperature
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of universal standards and specifications in order to meet building codes and legal requirements
  • Develops working knowledge of dozens of methods used for welding a variety of materials and components
  • Takes apart and disposes of large metal objects  and other structure
  • Perform all planned Preventative Maintenance (Mechanical) of all BDHC Lagos Estate gates. Working beyond official hours as and when required
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Estates Foreman
  • Prior experience working in a similar job role
  • Attention to details and initiative, as well as good customer service skills
  • Good team player skills
  • Formal Training through a Vocational or Technical School
  • Relevant Welder or Welding Fabricator Certifications
  • Ability to fill-in Hot Works and Dynamics Risk assessment 
  • MS word, Excel, Outlook
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken
