View Vacancy - Private Sector Development Advisor
To shape the British Embassy’s approach to supporting economic, financial and private sector development in Ethiopia by providing high quality policy and technical advise to the British Embassy’s Climate, Economy, Trade and Investment team (CETI), the wider Embassy and relevant teams across the FCDO. The role also provides exciting opportunities to manage aspects of the UK’s economic programming and lead UK engagement with ministers and senior officials in the Ethiopian government. This is an exciting role at the centre of the UK’s economic development work in Ethiopia. Working as part of a dynamic and motivated team, we are looking for someone who brings a mix of technical expertise, can work collaboratively as part of a team and is enthusiastic about the work of the UK in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will: · Provide high quality technical and policy advice on economic, financial and private sector development issues to the CETI team, other teams across the British Embassy and to FCDO headquarters. · Lead British Embassy economic development programming in areas such as financial sector reform, delivering real impact on priority development areas. · Support regular economic reporting to the British Embassy and teams in FCDO HQ. · Take an active role in supporting the development of strategy and programmes within the Climate, Economy, Trade and Investment Team, working closely with British International Investment and the wider Embassy. · Develop and utilise strong networks with the CETI team, across Embassy teams and the wider FCDO network to support UK objectives in Ethiopia. · Develop and utilise strong networks within the Government of Ethiopia, the private sector and with other development partners to build effective partnerships for development, and to influence their activities in support of UK objectives. · Actively contribute to creating a postive, and inclusive working environment at the British Embassy that values and respects the skills, experiences and bankgrounds of all our staff |
- A degree or similar qualification in Economics, Finance, Business.
- At least 3 years experience working on economic and/or private sector development issues in Ethiopia.
- Experience of working in an international organisation.
- Experience of managing economic development programmes.
