Main purpose of job:

Estates Section is looking for an AC Mechanic who can perform wide range of jobs (preferably electrical or mechanical). The job holder will work under the Line Management of Supervisor (M&E). The incumbent will be required to carry out the maintenance of air conditioners, Mechanical and electrical equipment at various properties of British High Commission, New Delhi. To carry out duties after office hours based on the need and requirement. Good understanding about the Health and Safety during refurbishment, Planned Preventive Maintenance and Remedial works etc.

Roles and responsibilities 

To work closely with M&E Supervisor and be part of core planned preventive maintenance team. The job holder Will be required to handle /action on the work request received via Estate Helpdesk Manager. To assist the Supervisor (M&E) with daily and weekly planned preventive maintenance of air conditioning chillers Plants capacity- 250 TR. To provide standby service in the event of emergency call out pertaining to air conditioning services. The job holder will work under day to day supervision of the supervisor (M&E) and carry out the assigned works. To perform other roles and responsibilities as assigned by Line manager. Responsible for performing multiple maintenance tasks throughout the day in BHC ON / OFF properties, which includes but is not limited to electrical and mechanical work. And to document the work required for property compliance assessment (PCA).

To job holder will supervise the outside vendors during the refurbishment and  projects work is going on in the ON / OFF compound and check the quality of work and they doing the work as per the SOW and use the same materials as per specification.

To work as integral part of M&E team to install split AC units, white goods  at various locations in ON/ OFF compound during the refurbishment and attend break down calls as per requirement. Job holder will repairs on electrical and mechanical equipments as per organisation’s health and safety procedure. And escalating the residual work to M&E manager.

To take the rounds of BHC main office & residence properties in the compound and check documenting the fault finding and to make the request for the work.

Duties and responsibilities that may be inherent in a job, reasonably required for its performance, or required due to the changing nature of the job shall also be considered part of the jobholder responsibility.



  • Should have ITI in the field of Refrigeration & Air Conditioning with 5 years experience or High School qualification with work experience of at least 8 years in the field of refrigeration and Air- conditioning.
  • Background of Mechanical works in commercial building or residential accommodations and experience of centrifugal chillers plants.
  • operations and maintenance and testing equipments and systems.
  • Should be able to understand Basic English & communicate with UK officers, their families, staff and others.
  • Should able to fill logbooks & maintain technical records in English.
  • Should be good working knowledge of maintenance required on AC’S, Fridge freezers, chillers plant and other systems.
  • Should be able to work with others in team or contractors workmen.
  • Good knowledge of electrical works will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedure as per good international Industries standard.
  • Any specialized training relevant to work.
