The British Embassy in Rabat invites applications for the position of Engagement Officer, Grade A2 (L).

Objective:

The Engagement Officer will support the UK’s political, social, commercial and cultural aims in Morocco by proposing and implementing innovative ways for the Embassy to engage with different stakeholders. 

The successful candidate will have strong organisation and communication skills, will be able to prioritise flexibly and use their own initiative to deliver to deadlines. He/she will have strong people skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a busy team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing Embassy events, including the annual Queen’s Birthday Party celebration, high-profile  VIP visits, sports, artistic and cultural activities. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a strategic forward look of events, and proposing innovative ideas;
  • Planning and delivering high-impact events to support UK priorities in Morocco.
  • Leading on relationships with external suppliers and coordination of teams within the Embassy for events
  • Coordinate events (receptions, dinners etc.), including drafting/updating guest lists, sending out invitations and collating RSVPs
  • Developing an extensive contacts database for the Embassy.
  • Liaising with the Residence Manager, Comms team, and others involved with events/engagements.
  • Work with the DHM in managing the embassy’s annual entertainment and hospitality budget allocation.

Essential:

  • High standard of spoken and written English (IELTS score of at least 7 or equivalent);
  • Bilingual in French and Arabic (Spoken and written);
  • Educated to degree level;
  • Confident communication and accurate drafting and writing ability;
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Previous event management experience;
  • Strong people skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a busy team;
  • Good customer service skills;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise flexibly and use own initiative to deliver to tight deadlines;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
  • Willingness to work to frequent and tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.

Desirable:

  • Comms experience, including social media.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: gross salary of MAD 13,372 per month, inclusive of all allowances. The contract will be a Full Time, Fixed term contract – 1 year renewable and with a possibility for being a permanent, with a six month probation period.

Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week Monday to Friday. 

Eligibility:

Candidates must have permission to work within Morocco.
