Main purpose of job:

To work closely with the Estates Manager and to ensure that the estate (currently comprising 14 residential properties and 2 offices) and the fittings and furniture within are secure, healthy and safe to FCO standards and meet the service and standards set out in the Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Roles and responsibilities :

  • Maintain asset register of  furniture and fittings for all 1HMG properties
  • Plan and implement the routine maintenance work and provide updates and feedback to staff to 1HMG staff.
  • Manage the Service Desk System i.e. respond independently to all work request,  provide updates and feedback to staff on the progress of the work request, maintain record of work requests and collect data on feedback for the service provided.
  • Manage the residential floats ensuring that items are checked out and in and arranging replacement items when necessary.
  • Closely supervise the works which are carried out by contractors in all 1HMG properties.
  • Plan and implement the mandatory regular Health and Safety checks for all 1HMG properties in line with FCO guidance and escalating the same information to 1HMG staff.
  • Responsible for the procurement of Goods and Services, ensuring that the value for money is practised and liaise directly with regional for purchases above the threshold.  Ensure that FCO Purchase to Pay policy practiced.
  • Provide support across the 1HMG Corporate Services team as and when required i.e. cover for leave, special events etc and undertake other duties as assigned and agreed by Estates Manager

Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

Supervise maintenance budget of approximately 8 million meticais  and line managing the estates technician (A1)

  • Minimum 2 years experience managing property maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Customer Service/Care
  • Driving license
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese
  • Management of inventories
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Computer skills, i.e. excel, word

The job will be full time but there may be the possibility of a flexible working pattern based on full time hours depending on business needs.
