The British Embassy in Tunis currently has a vacancy for a Driver; grade S1 to start on 24 January 2019.

Main purpose of job:

To carry out daily driving duties and support the Defence Section and the Embassy. The successful applicant is responsible for providing a safe, efficient and effective service to Defence Section staff and official visitors when required. This includes professional and safe driver services, an efficient messenger and administrative support. The Defence Section driver is discreet, courteous, has strong customer skills and ensures the vehicle is always clean, in good running condition and regular maintenance schedules are followed.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Responsible for the Defence Section official runs, providing transport for the DA and Defence Section visitors, taking DA and ADA to official meetings, appointments, functions etc outside the Embassy.

• Distribution of letters and invitations. General driving detail/ office admin and ad hoc duties as required.

• Vehicle Care - daily vehicle cheeking of tyres, hydraulic (brake) fluid, engine oil, radiator and battery levels. The rear and front lights including indicator and brake lights.

Collaborating and Partnering – People skilled in this area create and maintain positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of people within and outside the Civil Service to help get business done.

• Fluent in English, French and Arabic

• Driving experience with good reference

• Must have CAT D License

• Excellent driving skills

• A minimum of 3 years driving experience

• Good knowledge of basic car maintenance

• Very good knowledge of Tunis

• Displays personal integrity, honesty and discretion

Working hours and remuneration:

Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 08:00-16:30 from Monday to Thursday and 08:00-13:00 on Fridays. This is a full time position, normal working hours (morning – evening), this may not be the case all the time; depending on daily Defence Section’s routine and other commitments.

The British Embassy in Tunis offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 1,304 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 1,647. This is a full-time, permanent contract.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.

The appointment will also be subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.

Eligibility:

Candidate must be eligible to work and reside in Tunisia immediately.
