The Regional Marketing Manager, working within DIT at the British High Commission in Singapore, will focus on promoting UK trade and investment with Southeast Asia (SEA) through creating marketing plans, adapting international strategies, and delivering marketing activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with trade and investment colleagues across Southeast Asia, the DIT Marketing Hub in Hong Kong, and the London-based Marketing and GREAT teams to successfully deliver evidence-based, insight-driven marketing activity that is aligned with the region’s commercial goals. There will be a requirement for travel and occasional and limited out of hours work around major events and activities.

The UK has a strong story to tell in areas where we have expertise that matches the demand in Southeast Asia. This role will be key to delivering those messages in the most effective way to bring about positive outcomes for UK businesses in Southeast Asia. This job offers the successful applicant the chance to play a key role in a global marketing campaign that will reach an audience of millions and gain excellent exposure to senior figures in government and industry.  


This position is advertised on a fixed-term basis for one (1) year.


Roles and responsibilities:

― Regional planning and budgets

  • Responsible for planning and coordinating GREAT campaign activity for DIT across the ASEAN Region. Regularly reporting on progress to the Regional Director, Marketing Hub, and HQ, through project and budget reports. 
  • Working closely with the Marketing Hub to secure funding from GCF/ Prosperity Fund for ASEAN.  Once funding is secured, overseeing budgets to ensure a strong return on investment. 
  • Acting as the central coordinator for marketing activity during business planning, working closely with the marketing/ sector leads at local offices. Subsequently, having oversight of activity throughout the year.

― Marketing implementation and delivery

  • On the ground implementation of GREAT campaign activities where resource is needed. Will require frequent travel to those markets before and during live activity. 
  • Working with HQ, Hub, and agencies to develop/ adapt content, branding and material for campaigns, event and missions.
  • Overseeing procurement of goods and services in a timely fashion for successful delivery of GREAT activity, ensuring adherence to procurement guidelines.

― Regional liaison

  • Working with the Regional Marketing Hub to up-skill communicators and improve the social media strategy and brand compliance in the region. This would include monitoring channels, providing social media guidance, sharing best practice and calendars. 
  • Adopting a collaborative, cross-government approach, becoming a linchpin for GREAT campaign activity. Developing an excellent working relationship with colleagues in the FCO, VisitBritain, British Council, UKVI, and the devolved authorities.
  • Acting as the region’s mouthpiece and trusted advisor, helping the Hub/ HQ understand the unique needs of ASEAN, and articulating the opportunities available to British organisations. 
  • Develop strategic partnerships with private sector, multipliers, and influencers in ASEAN, e.g. UKABC, raising the profile of SEA in the UK.
  • Demonstrable relevant marketing experience in a regionally based role
  • Strong programme management skills, particularly project planning, event management, tracking and evaluation
  • Evidence of successfully juggling and delivering integrated marketing campaigns 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, but also implement and deliver
  • Proven ability to manage multi-activity, regional budgets, including following correct procurement guidelines, invoicing, and keeping meticulous records
  • Adept in writing copy for social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook
  • Strong copy-writing skills and experience in placing stories for PR and earned media
  • Ability to make friends and influence people
  • Experience, training, or qualification in digital/ social media/ content marketing is a definite advantage
  • Experience in B2B or government services marketing
  • Experience of working with marketing/ PR/ communications agencies

  • Normal working hours are 37.5 per week: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Friday. There will be a requirement for occasional and limited out of hours work around major events and visits. There is scope for flexible working arrangements.
  • Monthly gross salary of SGD 4,273 + CPF/ CPF-in-lieu, with pro-rated 13th and 14th month pay
  • 23 days paid annual leave (calculated pro-rata) 
  • Childcare leave (up to a maximum of 6 days per year, dependent upon age of children)
  • Family Care leave (up to a maximum of 2 days per year)
