View Vacancy - Facilities Manager and Deputy Head of Corporate Services - C4 - Colombo

Main purpose of job:
Main Objectives of this position are
- To ensure the British High Commission compound and 10 owned/long term leased residential properties run efficiently, comply the required Health, safety and security standards
- to direct two large teams - the in house security guards (team of 30) plus the estate and technical maintenance team (team of 8)
- To oversee the estate budget in collaboration with the Head of Corporate Services, The Foreign Office in London and the finance/procurement teams in Delhi (current budget is LKR 1 Million)
- To provide strategic support to the senior management team including presentations at in house and regional meetings, deputise for the Head of Corporate Services when appropriate and on occasion represent the High Commission on Estate and Security matters.
- To oversee external relationship with estate suppliers, service/maintenance providers and landlords plus taking ownership of all chargeable services; therefore ensuring the team delivery a strong customer focussed and professional service with clear communication to internal and external clients.
Roles and Responsibilities
- The jobholder will make sure all buildings owned and leased by the British High Commission work. This includes implementing the Estate strategy in conjunction with senior managers at the BHC, colleagues at a regional level and experts based in the UK. This will include leading on the planned maintenance programme, adhering to Security procedures, Health and Safety regulations, fire prevention and emergency planning.
- To provide guidance, direction and mentor a large workforce of security guards and the buildings maintenance team, delivering and supporting the High Commission’s objectives through these teams. In addition, the jobholder should look for cost effective ways of carrying out the assigned roles and responsibilities.
- To provide Relationship Management and Stakeholder liaison on Estate and Security matters for the BHC. This will include ownership of the service level agreement with the EEAS and any future tenants. Leading on communications for internal and external customers on all security and Estate matters. Oversee the accommodation policy, implementation of the post housing policy for UK staff and their families
- To perform other role and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Corporate Services, the Post Security Officer and regional security and Estate managers
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
Direct line management of 3 plus heading up a team of 40 which includes security guards and maintenance team
Expenditure: up to LKR 1 Million plus overseeing an income strand of £250,000 per year.
Education: BSc hons in Facilities management or equilvalent
Experience:
- 5 years of proven experience of running a building/ working in a building management environment
- Leading/line management of teams
- Delivering through others
- Budget/financial planning
- Be able to supervise the work of specialist contractors like A/C, Fire Alarm etc.
- Should be aware of UK Health and Safety standards
- Good with use of computers and Windows based systems
- Customer focus and delivery a professional service to internal and external clients
- Building management/Estate management qualification
- Knowledge of security procedures
- Technical expertise/or professional qualification in electrical or air conditioning

The salary will be LKR 155,108 paid monthly in arrears x 13 times a year.
