View Vacancy - Defence Attaché`s Assistant - UZB259
The British Embassy in Uzbekistan is part of the world-wide UK diplomatic network working on behalf of British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The Embassy in Tashkent is looking for a Defence Attaché`s Assistant. The job holder will be responsible for support the Defence Attaché in promoting links between the UK and Uzbek Ministry of Defence. This includes translation of official documents and related materials between Russian and English, interpreting at official meetings, organising events both in Uzbekistan and UK, preparation of financial accounts and occasional driving for the Defence Section Staff. The exact requirements of this position on a day-to-day are not fixed and may evolve over time.
Main Duties and Responsabilities:
Accurate and timely translation of documents;
Liaison with local authorities, primarily with MOD and MFA and prepare relevant official documents and letters for submission;
Provide efficient logistic (tickets, accommodation) and administrative (visas, registration) support of visits and events;
- Prepare transport programme as necessary;
Analysis of current affairs in the region as appropriate;
Interpretation during meetings;
Responsible for section’s financial accounts;
Drive for DA and DS during the day and evening events;
Travel with DA and UK based visitors to all regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and occasionally to UK and interpret as necessary.
Good IT skills are essential, the applicant will need to be conversant with Windows and Microsoft Products, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel;
Fluent spoken and written English and Russian;
Motivated, energetic and proactive self-starter, capable of independent thought and able to deliver results on time and to the correct standard with minimum supervision;
Good analytical and writing skills;
- Uzbek category ‘B’ driving licence.
Military knowledge;
International affairs;
Experience in working in a multinational / multicultural environment;
Good Knowledge of Uzbeck language.
This is a full-time Permanent contract with the duration of two years (40 hours per week).
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background checks and security clearance.
