The British Embassy in The Hague is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for two interns for the role of Intern Project Manager to work within the Department for International Trade (DIT) team. One intern will mainly support DIT’s Investment Team, while the other will be supporting the Trade Team.

The Department for International Trade supports both UK companies to trade internationally and foreign companies looking to establish or expand operations in the UK.

Main responsibilities:

To support project based activities of both the Investment and the Trade teams within DIT Netherlands. You will work on the following projects:

Investment

A. Development and execution of Business Development events and campaigns designed to increase the level of investment by Dutch companies in the UK;

B. Support engagement with existing investors through research and developing sector knowledge.

For Investment Project A you will identify key markets and client groups, research specific clients and co-ordinate engagement. For Investment Project B you will develop and maintain account plans for the Investment Team’s key clients.

Trade

A. Management of the account planning process for the Trade Team’s key client relationships;

B. Development and execution of Business Development campaigns for the UK industry regarding trade activities in the Netherlands.

For Trade Project A you will conduct research on UK industry and its export activities and capabilities within specific sectors of the Dutch market. For Trade Project B you will assist in developing and organising a large trade event for one of the Trade Team’s key sectors.

To support the DIT Netherlands team with other day to day activities, such as events and pre-meeting briefings.

The internship offers a great opportunity for a talented and highly motivated individual to gain insight into the international business environment, with direct exposure to the workings of an important bilateral Embassy.

Working together with a team of experienced Trade & Investment advisers, the role offers the opportunity to make a real impact.

This project would suit someone that is:

  • Currently undertaking studies in a higher education institution based in the Netherlands;
  • A good communicator, with proficiency in spoken and written English;
  • Willing to undergo security clearance.
  • Good command of written and spoken Dutch is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be offered a six months internship. The duration of the internship allows for some flexibility to take into account specific demands which may be set by Dutch or British higher education institutions.

Interns receive a flat compensation rate of € 400 per month based on a 20 hour week.

The successful candidate will be offered the internship subject to successful professional background check, as well security clearance by the relevant Dutch and / or British authorities.
