The British Consulate General in Istanbul is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas as is now looking to hire Entry Clearance Assistants for its UK Visas and Immigration section in Istanbul to provide support to the UK Visas and Immigration section. 

The objective of this role is to provide high quality and efficient support to the visa application processing which meets benchmarks and ensures the delivery of excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.

Main tasks:

  • Verifying documentation submitted with applications while working towards a daily productivity expectation
  • Dealing with customer and stakeholder enquiries
  • Liaising with Commercial Partners in various locations both inside and outside of Turkey
  • Printing and supervising the printing of visa vignettes
  • Depending on operational requirement and following a training course, making immigration decisions on non-complex visa applications
  • Assisting UKVI managers and performing any other job-related duties as required

 


  • Excellent command (both oral and written) of English, Common European Framework level/equivalent C1 or above*;
  • Able to work under pressure as part of a large team and complete tasks to an agreed standard with strong attention to detail
  • Play a multifunctional role and maintain flexibility and rotate between units and various tasks as required;
  • Able to remain customer focused, polite and courteous under pressure;
  • Able to manage own work with minimal supervision;
  • Experience in a similar target-based role
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word and Excel;
  • Flexible and positive about working in a forward thinking, modern and motivated department, which is working at the forefront of visa work;

This is a full-time fixed-term position of 12 months for 5 working days (36.25 hours net).

The monthly salary for this position is 1,447 USD gross AO level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

All applicants should have the right to live and work in Turkey. The British Consulate General does not sponsor for work permits.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period of 2 months.

Staff recruited locally by the British Consulate General are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Turkish employment law.
