The British Embassy Amman has a vacancy for Post Security Manager, job grade Executive Officer (EO).
Main Purpose of the Job:
The jobholder will ensure the security integrity & safety of the British Embassy Amman, its staff, visitors and families, including at the Residence of His Majesty’s Ambassador (HMA). The jobholder will also be responsible for the management and containment of actual threats or incidents. This can include, but not fully listed, dealing with difficult / abusive customers, intruders, bomb threats, UAV sightings.
The jobholder will assist the UK based Country Security Advisor (CSA) in actioning and implementation of effective security strategies and protocols to protect against physical threats, espionage, theft and other security risks. The jobholder will manage the locally contracted guard force, ensuring operational key performance indicators (KPIs) are met, as laid down by the contract. The jobholder will also manage the Security Administration Assistant and have custody of and responsible for issuing of radios, sat phones and PPE. The jobholder will undertake recce’s of accommodation, hotels and work visits outside of Amman.
The jobholder will be the main point of liaison with local Jordanian security authorities, hotels and external bodies. The jobholder will also conduct security vetting of visitors, potential staff and contractors, and will provide security briefs.

Working hours and Remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of JOD 1,842 per month based on 37 hours per week.
Salary will be paid in gross, and you are expected to comply with your tax obligations through completion of a tax return to the local authorities. If exceptionally you are not liable to pay Jordanian tax, you will receive a net salary, which is minus the deduction of an equivalent level of local tax. Further information on this will be provided at interview if necessary.
This role is for a full-time employment on a permanent contract. The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-days probationary period. The appointment is subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances. The selected candidate must have the right to live and work in Jordan.
Normal working hours at the Embassy are Sundays to Wednesdays from 08:00-15:30 and Thursdays from 08:00-15:00. Hours of work vary for this role according to operational requirements in agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will also be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours (evenings/ weekends), during visits and events.
The post holder is expected to undertake additional duties in support of Embassy requirements, including being on call 24/7 for which an additional allowance will be applicable.
This role involves travel within Jordan to attend meetings and also within the region and possibly further afield for conferences and business purposes. The successful candidate must be able to secure visas for these countries.
