The British Embassy in Moscow is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Corporate Services Clerical / IT Officer. 

Working within the corporate services section, this is a wide ranging role providing both clerical and high quality IT support, to staff at the British Embassy in Moscow. 

The successful applicant will work alongside the lead IT Support Officer (ITSO) to ensure the smooth running of IT services across the platform.

The successful candidate will need to help deliver operational and strategic IT projects in cooperation with London based teams and be able to demonstrate flexibility to the operation of a range of tasks. Self-motivation will be a key asset. There are strict audit requirements and procurement policies associated with the role.

Some IT knowledge would be an advantage but the role offers an ideal opportunity for someone interested in this field and who is willing to learn more, the opportunity to develop further skills.

The nature of the role requires a level of security clearance only available to nationals of English, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand or US origin.

What will the jobholder be expected to achieve:


IT Activities

  • Working along-side the lead ITSO the officer will help provide a focal point for IT users in the embassy to all IT related queries, by acting as the local Help Desk support, responding to queries;
  • Build a strong working relationship with colleagues on the London Helpdesk to resolve IT issues when necessary such as cover when the lead ITSO is away;
  • Support IT infrastructure management and upkeep of servers, systems, network and application support;
  • Maintain Embassy’s IT infrastructure, reporting incidents and degradations in performance to Helpdesk;
  • Support users in operating Microsoft Teams;
  • Prepare local user guides and manuals for standalone systems, IT and technical systems, induction for newly appointed staff and ad hoc training. 


Clerical activities

  • Support and maintain up-to-date Post Information Asset Register (IAR) to ensure that information assets are managed in accordance with official policy and guidance;
  • Stakeholder engagement with local telecom and other IT suppliers;
  • Manage local phone and internet contracts, in line with procurement policies;
  • Create purchase orders in line with standard procurement guidance;
  • Act as a support role for corporate services activities on an ad hoc basis in particular for holiday cover and at peak work times. This will include finance and procurement activities.
  • Fluent English (C1 oral and written);
  • Logical and systematic approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently;
  • Ability to be well organised with attention to detail and follow through tasks, to communicate well to staff colleagues and to service providers;
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • Self-motivated to seek innovative solutions;
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Experience in IT hardware and software;
  • Experience in fixing IT faults and maintaining IT related equipment;
  • Experience in managing IT systems;
  • College or degree qualification in IT, telecommunications or related technical systems;
  • Previous experience working in a foreign diplomatic mission or an international organisation.

This is a permanent full-time contract, 5 working days, 35 hours net per week.

The monthly salary for this position is Rub 90,779 gross, AO level, paid 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
