Who are we?
The British Embassy in Sofia is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a creative and motivated Communications Support Officer.
We are looking for someone with creativity and enthusiasm to help deliver top quality communications output, ideally with skills and experience in digital content creation and planning of communications activity. The Officer will work on a number of strategic communications campaigns, in particular to deliver a steady flow of content and communications across the British Embassy’s digital platforms and social media.
They will also support the Press and Communications Officer on a range of broader press and communications activity, for example drafting press releases, social media posts and briefing materials, helping to manage media enquiries, monitoring media coverage, and assisting with the organisation of press events and high-profile visits. Proficiency in video and photo editing is highly valued, particularly for filming, editing, and formatting visual content for digital platforms.
The job holder will also have access to training and learning opportunities provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, subject to budget availability, as well as the opportunity to shadow colleagues across the FCDO network.

This is a full-time fixed-term position (36 hours gross per week ) until the end of March 2026. There is the possibility of extension for an extra year, subject to budget availability.
The successful candidate will receive a non-negotiable monthly salary of BGN 2,500 gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata.
Core skills training and mandatory trainings will be provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. All staff have a personal development plan and access to world class learning and development opportunities.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance. Anyone with right of residence and employment in Bulgaria may apply, including all EU/EEA citizens and the family members of EU/EEA nationals exercising a treaty right in Bulgaria.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions Service according to Bulgarian employment law.
