The British Embassy in Kyiv is recruiting a Campaigns Co-ordinator.

Researched and sustained campaigns work is key to lasting behavioural and attitudinal change in local audiences.  The Campaigns Co-ordinator will take the lead in managing the Embassy’s campaigns portfolio, including designing local strategies, and producing high quality, creative and engaging campaigns that will appeal to our Target Audiences and deliver key HMG policy messages and priorities for Ukraine. You will work closely with the Media Team and teams across the Embassy, as well as our partners and contacts, to communicate our work as effectively as possible.  You will use research and surveys to understand our audiences and how to both reach and grow them; and systematically evaluate and learn lessons from each campaign, reporting to Embassy and London seniors.

 

What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

Design and deliver effective strategic communications campaigns by:

  • Using the OASIS campaigns model to plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate campaigns;
  • Researching, developing and implementing campaigns to raise profile of the UK and HMG impact in-country;
  • Understanding the ‘UK in Ukraine’ social media audience through relevant surveys, then reaching it with key HMG messages, and growing it;
  • Working closely with other members of the Media Team to evaluate the reach and impact of campaigns and then assess how to increase reach and impact for the next campaign;
  • Working with London to understand HMG’s key communications objectives and delivering them locally;
  • Working with other Embassy teams to utilise their information, content and visuals to incorporate into broader campaigns;
  • Provide advice and support to wider Embassy team, including Programmes, British Council, and Consular and lead on developing campaigns for their work streams;
  • Preparing evaluation reports on Embassy communications activity.

 

Support the communications and wider Embassy teams by:

  • Accompanying the Ambassador at visits, events, and interviews where relevant to the campaigns portfolio;
  • Co-ordinating the Strategic Communications Donor Group alongside Programme team colleague;
  • Supporting the broader communications team work when there is a visiting Minister or other high profile event;
  • Working closely with a policy lead in one or more priority areas;
  • Covering for other members of the Policy Delivery Team as required;
  • Producing regular and bespoke press summaries;
  • Monitoring conversations and reactions to the content we post, topics of interest to the wider Embassy and events in the UK; advise teams across the Embassy on the tone and content of debates in the Ukrainian media.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Ukrainian (C1) (*CEFR level);
  • In-depth understanding of local social media trends and audiences;
  • Understanding of the campaigns cycle and tools, including OASIS;
  • Understanding of audience surveys and insight tools and how to utilise them in a campaign plan;
  • Creativity, flexibility, strong team player skills;
  • Excellent presentational and organisational skills;
  • Ability to work without supervision;
  • IT literacy, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong social media user experience.
  • Previous experience in similar field of work e.g. media and/or government communications;
  • In-depth knowledge of local media scene, including key outlets and figures;
  • Understanding of video production process, including basic video making and photography skills.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months, with possibility of renewal, for 40 working hours per week including 1 hour per day for lunch.

The jobholder will have access to British Embassy Kyiv’s full learning and development offer, which includes the Foundation Programme in UK International Policy and Diplomacy and other related courses. This position provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the role of an Embassy and international relations/diplomacy in Ukraine.
