Main purpose of job:

  • To ensure the effective running of the British Embassy’s corporate services team and manage the day-to-day functioning of the Embassy.  The Corporate Services Manager will be responsible for managing the Embassy’s budget and estate and for procurement of goods and services and overseeing HR.  The Corporate Services Manager will be expected to successfully manage relationships with suppliers to ensure value for money and a quality service.   


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • To deliver a sound foundation for the work of the British Embassy, managing the day-to-day functioning of the Embassy with oversight of transport and HR in addition to estates, procurement and accounts.
  • Responsible for the Embassy budget and the planning, allocation and forecasting and management processes following FCO guidance and meeting monthly KPIs. 
  • Monthly reporting on financial performance and completion of monthly budget tasks.
  • Responsible for procurement of goods and services for the Embassy and periodic review of suppliers to ensure value for money, using FCO guidance and meeting UK standards.  
  • Estate management for Embassy and residential properties of UK-based staff, ensuring necessary maintenance work is carried out and is compliant with FCO guidance and the Health and Safety Framework.
  • Oversee the HR function including compliance with local employment law, processing staff salaries and induction of new staff.
  • To manage the relationship with colleagues in London, the Finance Hub, GTPC and HR Hub.  
  • Advanced/Operational English and Fluent French.
  • Relevant Degree.
  • 3 years job related experience.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Previous experience of Procurement and Estate Management.
  • Part qualified Accountant.  
  • Good organisational and inter-personal skills.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve in fast moving situations.
