Main purpose of job:


In conjunction with the Corporate Services Manager, ensure that all resources (both human and financial) are effectively managed to meet the needs of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the Department for International Development (DFID) and Department for International Trade(DIT)



Roles and responsibilities

  • Having daily oversight of FCO financial and budget management. Provide high quality financial corporate returns e.g. Monthly budget and finance reports, Medium Term Financial Planning
  • Ensuring compliance and adherence to FCO and best practice guidelines across the mission including conducting spot checks in line with KPI and SLA requirements.
  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of Finance, including Accounts and Estates and Office Services.
  • Line Manage the Finance and Business Support Officer, IT Support Officer and Transport Manager; ensuring that staff have clearly defined, challenging objectives and learning and development goals to strengthen their capacity to effectively deliver the functions assigned to them
  • Ensure best practice is applied in the procurement of good and services by the Estates and Office Services team (lease negotiations, planned preventative maintenance work, garden services, office machinery and other associated contracts)
  • Lead on Internal Audit activities ensuring that recommendations Internal Audit Department (IAD) audits are implemented.
  • Quality assure the team work plans for Accounts, Transport, IT and Estates and Office Services and monitors performance against the key performance indicators.
  • Provide cover for the Team Leader Corporate Services.




Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

Budget of £2.2million and a staff compliment of four (4) direct reports and 14 indirect reports.


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Budgeting Management.
  • Professionally recognised qualification in the Accounting/Finance field.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo a security vetting process.
  • Experience with auditing/audits
  • Minimum of 2 years of line management experience

The Deputy Corporate Services Manager (Deputy CSM) is crucial in ensuring that British High Commission financial resources are safeguarded.

 The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong record in budget management, financial compliance and delivering in a systematic way. They will also need to be able to build a strong relationship with the Corporate Services team to ensure value for money is obtained in all operations.
