This position works closely with the Head of Communications & Marketing and the Communications Officer.

The purpose of the job is to plan and execute strategic, high quality marketing communications and events, with a particular focus on digital marketing, to promote the role of DIT and support the delivery of DIT’s industry sector campaigns in both Australia and New Zealand (and, as required, to support FCO and other HMG priorities).


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Communications and Marketing to develop strategic marketing communications plans for each of DIT’s priority sectors.
  • Project manage the delivery of marcomms and event activity in Australia and NZ for sector campaigns and cross-government GREAT Britain campaign activity - including (but not limited to): events, exhibitions, sponsorship, collateral materials, audio-visual content.
  • Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns using digital marketing software and templates and improve DIT digital marketing capability.
  • Provide marketing communications and event support to UK Export Finance team and Trade Policy Group as required in ANZ.
  • Use audience and business insights to inform marketing and event activity planning.
  • Develop and build segmented marketing data-base.
  • Evaluate and report on all marketing communication and event activity using the Government Communications evaluation framework.
  • Develop strong working relationships with DIT teams in Australia and New Zealand; DIT’s marketing and brand teams in Hong Kong and London and colleagues across other British government departments.
  • Stay up to date with latest digital marketing thinking, tools and capabilities and incorporate into day-to-day work.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing communications capability, especially digital marketing amongst DIT colleagues through the sharing of knowledge and best practice. 
  • Report on GREAT Britian campaign and sector campaign activity as required by HQ.
  • Manage individual project budgets and comply with budget processes and reporting requirements.
  • Commission, manage and negotiate with third party suppliers in line with procurement guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively, and as part of a team, across the Australia and New Zealand network.
  • Provide back-up social media, web and communications support as required including creating/drafting content/ social media content and posting; taking pictures/video and live-tweeting at events.
  • Some requirement for out of normal working hours event support and teleconferences with UK based and HK based colleagues. (Time off in Lieu will be given as appropriate).
  • Occassional interstate travel.
  • High level of written (native) and spoken English language proficiency required
  • Bachelor degree in marketing, business or communications
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, delivering and evaluating e-marketing/digital marketing campaigns

Salary is at AU$70,890  per annum (paid out monthly), plus 11% superannuation.

Initial appointment is for two years. The formal job description may be subject to amendment in the future.

Appointment is subject to an AFP records check and UK security clearance.
