View Vacancy - National Crime Agency Local Liaison Advisor B3/EO (20/21 ACC)
Main purpose of job:
The job-holder will need to provide support to the National Crime Agency’s International Liaison Officer (ILO) whose objectives are to work collaboratively with local, and other diplomatic mission’s, law enforcement and security counterparts to reduce the threat of serious and organised crime as it affects the UK and the local region. The job-holder will report directly to the ILO who covers Ghana, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Burkina Faso and is based within the British High Commission in Accra, Ghana.
Roles and responsibilities:
- To co-ordinate and keep records of all information / intelligence received from UK sources (within the High Commission and from the UK), all local law enforcement agencies, liaison officers, and other counterparts in other diplomatic missions to enable a smooth process for international information sharing.
- To manage the ILO’s office information systems: paper based and electronic (both FCDO and NCA systems), including maintaining and updating filing systems, maintaining stakeholder contact lists.
- To support project management of the post’s budgets, including monthly and annual financial reporting, ensuring value for money and flagging any risks or issues with ILO.
- Line management of NCA driver including FCDO performance development and NCA and FCDO vehicle administration.
- To support delivery of capacity building programmes through liaison with x-HMG and local partners, including local law enforcement agencies.
- Assisting the ILO in research and the preparation of criminal intelligence reports for UK and local law enforcement agencies, conducting open source research and drawing out material of use in strategic and statistical analysis.
- To manage the NCA office administration of the day to day duties of the office. This will involve planning visit/trips & training arrangements, travel requirements for the ILO and any support staff. Book balancing and providing value for money.
- To monitor Ghana’s media reporting of domestic and international crime, including cross-border crime, identifying new threats and trends.
- Occasional attendance at official social/ ceremonial events on behalf of the NCA.
- Ability to prioritise, multi-task and deliver to deadlines following system processes for tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Support of x-HMG and wider mission priorities.

- Fully IT literate.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Able to adapt to a quick changing and evolving policy framework, and present solutions in an autonomous and efficient manner.
- Financial Management/ Accounting Skills.
- Previous experience working within the ‘Five Eyes’ law enforcement community.
- Security clearance of SC minimum.
- Written and spoken English to C2 Level.
- French language to B2 level.

Working patterns:
The successful candidate should show flexibility over working hours, as there might be unsociable working subject to business needs.
The successful candidate may have to travel to other countries within the West Africa region and the United Kingdom.
Working Hours:
Flexible- between 0700 hours and 1800 hours.
