The British Embassy in Beirut has a vacancy for the position of a Driver, Grade – S1.

Objective:

The primary role includes transporting embassy employees and visitors to and from various locations throughout the country, while adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures and the driver roster.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out regular maintenance checks for all vehicle fleet
  • Alert transport manager/deputy in case of technical problem or need for maintenance.
  • Ensure proper fuelling and washing of vehicles and all necessary tools are present in vehicles and in good condition.
  • Assist the Protocol officer in processing the official documents with the Local Authorities
  • Ad hoc help to the wider Corporate Services Team as required, including back up for Diplomatic Bag delivery and dispatch and backup receptionist

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Skilled driver and must have the necessary authorization to drive.
  • Valid driving licence for Lebanon.
  • Must be a safety conscious person, who is focused, confident and observant
  • Good knowledge of IT skills
  • Basic analytical skills is an asset

Working Hours and Remuneration:


The Embassy is committed to ensuring that you are able to maintain a suitable work-life balance.

Working pattern: The role is for 48 hours a week.

Early Daytime (Shift A): from 05.15 to 12.30 (1 duty driver). Driver will start at 05:15 to cover the early Airport pick up. If no early pick up is required, the driver shall start at 06:30 and leave the Embassy at 15:30.

Daytime (Shift B): from 7:30 until 16:30

Evening (Shift C): from 16:00 until 12:00 am

The British Embassy in Beirut offers an attractive working environment and offers a competitive remuneration package of $1,966 monthly for this role in line with local labour law (including transport and medical insurance coverage).

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90 days probationary period.

Eligibility:

 If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employe you as long as you:

  • Receive the appropriate level of security clearance;
  • Have (or be willing to personally obtain) the right to live and work in Lebanon.

Candidate's residence permit and work permit, and the expense to obtain them, will be their own responsibility.
