Background: 

The British Embassy seeks to build a pool of staff members willing to work temporary assignments on either a full-time or part-time basis. Assignments may last as short as a few days or as long as three months. Hours and working patterns may vary depending on the role and the department’s operational requirements.

Opportunities may arise in a number of different government departments and could include providing coverage for positions such as Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, Security Officer, or other similarly suited positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities will be dependent on the position, but are likely to be administrative in nature. IT may not be required for each position, but candidates with strong IT skills (including Microsoft Office) are welcomed.

Due to security requirements for these opportunities, applications are restricted to spouses of UK-based staff who are either US citizens, US green card holders, or A or NATO visa holders. Hourly rate of pay will be dependent on opportunity. Salary will be confirmed upon offer of employment. Individuals who are not US taxpaying citizens will be paid a net salary based on a simulated US tax status.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local US employment law.
