The British Embassy in Rome is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Digital and Brand Assistant to support the Press and Public Affairs team in the organisation of all activities and events designed to deliver the Country Business plan, with a particular focus on brand and digital media aspects for the team’s events and projects.

The role is widely designed to support the team for the delivery of media and social media campaigns. Media and social media monitoring duties and database maintenance.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Digital: to support the Digital and Brand manager at post in filming and editing materials for social media use, in particular photos and videos. To support the team in providing high quality material for the Ambassador’s social media, also accompanying him on occasion.
  • Evaluation: Production and ad hoc quarterly evaluation of the team’s outputs, both digital and media
  • Outreach: support in the organisation of digital, hybrid and in person events designed to deliver the Country Business plan, with a particular focus to the logistical aspects of the work. 
  • Office assistant: in charge of administrative duties such as travel or training arrangements and other organisational tasks for the team. PPA contacts database management. Agenda of the Head of Section. 
  • Media monitoring and translation: to support the team in monitoring Italian media and on translations as necessary. 
  • Corporate: contribute to the broader corporate objectives of the Italy Network
  • Fluency both oral and written at least at a C1 level in English and in Italian, or equivalent(*)
  • Excellent skills in photo and video shooting and editing
  • Excellent skills in the use of social media
  • Experience in the organisation of digital/hybrid events or social media live streaming
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite (incl. Microsoft Teams). 
  • Effective database management.  
  • Cross-team working experience

  • Graphic designer skills/experience in Adobe suite software
  • Knowledge of/interest in the Italian political, cultural and media landscape.  
  • Knowledge of/interest in the British political, cultural and media landscape. 
  • BA Degree or MA degree in relevant field. 
  • Experience in organising events and campaigns.  
  • At least one year experience in the media office of an organisation in a multilingual environment.  
  • Experience of managing diverse, and often more senior relationships.

This is a full-time temporary position with a contract of 12 months with possibility to renw for another year if operational requirements and funding are confirmed. The annual gross salary is €32,369, entry salary level on the FCDO AO salary scale. The additional €10.33 EDR paid 13 times per year is added to the annual salary.

If working less than a full calendar year, the additional salary payments will be pro-rata.
Working hours are 35 hrs per week Monday to Friday 9:00 - 17:00.

The appointment is subject to security clearance, professional background check and the successful completion of a 4 month probationary period.

All staff employed by the British Embassy are subject to Italian income tax rate deductions (IRPEF).  However the administration of these tax payments will vary depending on nationality.

The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Italian State Social Security Scheme. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Rome are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Italian employment law.
