Main purpose of job:

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has a longstanding commitment to lead the global fight against climate change. We aim to lead by example through reducing the impact of our own operations and minimise our contribution to climate change. 

The British Standards Institution’s (BSI) PAS 2060 standard provides verification that a business is carbon neutral.

The role will lead on the understanding of the requirements of the PAS 2060 BSI Standard;  gather data on GHG emissions from the operations of the British High Commission, Kuala Lumpur,  and prepare an Emissions Report presenting this data. The role will work as part of the office’s Corporate Services team and alongside staff from JLL, the facilities manager.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • To develop familiarisation with the specifications for the demonstration of carbon neutrality under the PAS 2060 Standard
  • Undertake the BSI PAS 2060 Training Modules
  • Help to develop and agree the boundary and scope of data collection 
  • Identify emission sources
  • Define data collection & calculation methods
  • Develop and Participate in Staff Awareness sessions
  • Undertake measurement and data capture of Green House Gas emissions
  • Prepare the GHG Emission report
  • Participate in the BSI Data Validation exercise
  • Academic background in either an Environmental Science subject or in Accounting/Statistics
