Main purpose of job:

To provides technical support on property issues, health and safety issues, and provision of routine maintenance to BHC and its large residential estate.  He/she should be able to work under pressure and perform difficult technical work with a view to meeting deadlines and staff expectations.

 

Roles and responsibilities : 

  • Plan and schedule projects, estimate time and materials, maintain records and file and prepare reports.
  • Commands respect of his workforce, and  develop excellent working relationships with  all  other department personnel
  • Ability to optimize resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the works.  Able to demonstrate good organizational skills, following policies, procedures and work practices.
  • Prepare, schedule and  be able to work on layout for the maintenance, alteration and repair of building structures and components.
  • Perform carpentry tasks.
  • Keep records of carpenters' time and materials used for each job.
  • Perform carpentry jobs requiring a high degree of skill.
  • Provide assistance on complex jobs.
  • Provide estimates of material required for a job.
  • Requisition materials from stores.
  • Erect scaffolding and manage hazardous work to ensure proper safety measures are being observed.
  • Keep records and compiles reports of customer work  request completed.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Graduation from high school;
  • 7yrs experience in carpentry in a busy construction /maintenance organization;
  • Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of the carpentry trade;
  • Thorough knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials; skill in the use of carpentry tools and wood working equipment; 
  • Ability to prepare and work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications; 
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions; 
  • Ability to rig scaffolds; 
  • Ability to plan and work independently;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other teams.





  • Holder of craft certificate from a recognized institution is an added advantage, and  a comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications;
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
