Main purpose of job:

To provide technical support on property issues, health and safety issues, and provision of routine maintenance to BHC and its large residential estate.  He/she should be able to work under pressure and perform difficult technical work with a view to meeting deadlines and staff expectations.

Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Ensure proper time management and timely completion of assigned tasks to an acceptable FCO standards
  • Apply coatings, such as paint, ink, or lacquer, to protect or decorate work piece surfaces, using spray guns, roller  or brushes.
  • Examine finished surfaces of work pieces to verify conformance to specifications; then retouch any defective areas.
  • Read work requests and inspect work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required.
  • Rinse, drain, or wipe coated work pieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on work pieces.
  • Select and mix ingredients to prepare coating substances according to specifications, using paddles or mechanical mixers.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and rags.
  • Clean surfaces of work pieces in preparation for coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam, sandpaper, or cloth.
  • Cut out sections in surfaces of materials to be inlaid with decorative pieces, using patterns and knives or scissors
  • Studies style, techniques, colours, textures, and materials used by artist to maintain consistency in reconstruction or retouching procedures.
  • Removes painting from frame, floors, or paint layer from canvas to restore artwork, following specified technique and equipment
  • Applies select solvents and cleaning agents to clean surface of painting and remove accretions, discolorations, and deteriorated varnish.
  • Brushes or sprays protective or decorative finish on completed background panels, informational legends, exhibit accessories, or finished painting.

  • Graduation from high school and extensive 5 yrs experience in painting in a busy construction /maintenance organization
  • Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of the painting and decoration,
  • Thorough knowledge of the use and characteristics of  consistency in retouching procedures and surface preparation;
  • Skill in the use of Painting tools and working equipment; ability to follow oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to plan and work independently,  
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other teams.

Possession of a valid Driver's License is an added advantage
