The British Embassy Amman is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas as is now looking for an Immigration Liaison Assistant to provide flexible support, linguistic skills and cultural advice to the IEI - Immigration Enforcement International (previously RALON) network in Jordan.

 

 

Purpose of the job

The post-holder will assist delivery on specific projects on Organised Immigration Crime and facilitate bilateral cooperation with key partners within host law enforcement and judicial agencies. The post-holder will be required to develop a clear strategic knowledge of the threat from Organised Immigration Crime in Jordan and the bordering countries in order to provide practical support to the ILOs, manage records and analyse data.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake extensive analysis, research and development on intelligence received from UK home office, airlines and hosts on immigration Crime;
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of local legislation surrounding immigration crime;
  • Develop in-depth strategic and tactical knowledge of immigration crime;
  • Make enquiries and exchange information with host government agencies;
  • Create and maintain contacts with senior and influential figures within government agencies and NGOs;
  • Liaise with partners across government within the British Embassy Amman general mission staff and foreign law enforcement liaison officers;
  • Provide administrative support to the Immigration Liaison Officer/Manager as required;
  • Maintain project filing system that is thorough, retrievable and auditable;
  • Supply logistical support for visiting officers, and assist visits by partner organisation officers to the UK;
  • Translate complex documents and contribute to meetings as an interpreter;

  • Ability to write reports and briefings in Arabic and English.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Access PowerPoint.
  • Promotes continuous learning; communicates clearly.
  • Plans work, anticipates risks, and sets goals within area of responsibility.
  • Displays awareness of relevant technological solutions.
  • Able to gain security clearance before employment

Working Hours and Remuneration:

This is a full-time one year fixed-term contract, with opportunities for extension, for 5 working days (37 hours net) per week.

Pay is on the Embassy A2 (L) scale, starting at JOD 694 per month depending on candidate’s skills and experience. The package also includes a good level of health insurance and an engaging working environment. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 21 days plus 14 public holidays.

  • Receive the appropriate level of standard security clearance;

  • Willing to travel occasionally
