Main purpose of job:

The British Embassy is looking for a Regional Recruitment Manager for the Americas Regional Human Resources Team located in our Washington, DC office.

The role of the Regional HR Team is to provide key HR Services including recruitment, pay and reward, talent and performance management and general HR support to customers across the region (North, Central, and South America, the Caribbean, and overseas territories). The HR Regional Team forms an integral part of the global HR infrastructure to staff working in the overseas network for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and will lead on all region specific HR issues in collaboration with the London based HR Directorate. This position requires an extremely detail oriented, enthusiastic person, who is capable of communicating with and influencing individuals at all levels of the organization. 

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful execution of full life-cycle recruitment across the Americas' region.  He/she will be responsible for all steps of the recruitment process from updating the job description and sourcing candidates to screening/interviewing, negotiating offers, and successfully hiring new employees.  The Regional Recruitment Manager will also play a strategic role in implementing best practices for the region.

  • Manage the hiring process ensuring that staffing requirements are satisfied in the most timely and cost effective manner.
  • Carry out the full life-cycle recruitment process for a wide range of positions and levels to include posting, sourcing, reviewing resumes and screening candidates, making offers, and following-up.
  • Assess current recruitment strategies and the organization’s staffing needs and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures as/when needed.
  • Work with line managers to develop job search strategies and job descriptions, post open positions internally and externally, and coordinate candidate process up to and including on boarding.
  • Provide guidance, training, and recommendations to senior managers across the region in all aspects of recruitment.
  • Execute all aspects of the recruitment strategy including efficient infrastructure, hiring manager engagement, ensure appropriate MI is completed, diversity sourcing and branding.
  • Train managers locally and virtually on interview skills and recruitment techniques.
  • Direct line management of the Regional Recruitment Officers.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Essential on arrival:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or specialized knowledge equivalent to such degree;
  • At least three years’ work experience Human Resources function;
  • Familiarity with an applicant tracking systems;
  • Experience with managing high volume, multiple recruitments at once;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as time management, presentation, and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated interview skills and judgment in employee selection;
  • Proven ability to communicate with and influence individuals at all levels of an organization;
  • Ability to handle confidential employee issues/information and deal with employees in a friendly and sensitive manner;
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use these systems to produce reports, charts, graphs, etc.

This is a permanent, full-time contract. The working hours are 40 hours per week.
