Main Purpose of Job:

We are looking for a Finance Analyst to join the Regional Finance Hub, located in the British Embassy in Mexico City. The Hub provides professional financial services, including monitoring and reporting on the financial activities of all British Embassies located across LATAM & Caribbean. Each Finance Officer manages a group of countries, building strong relationships with customers to meet financial standards, policy compliance and accurate budget/forecast reporting. The incumbent will also undertake a wide range of financial duties on behalf of a number of offices in the region. The role reports to the Head of Regional Finance Hub within the region.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial counselling to customers across LATAM & Caribbean region.
  • To monitor and process budgeting, forecasting and reporting (including exception reporting) for a range of offices in the region.
  • Deep analysis of current and future operational requirements, financial viability and identifying risks.
  • To liaise with individual offices in the region and Finance Business Partners in the UK to monitor trends and variances.
  • To review the annual financial planning returns by analysing main variances against forecast in year/ actual spend/ current allocation.
  • To ensure financial management indicators (FPCIs) are robust and issues resolved appropriately within agreed timescales.
  • To support on in year financial planning for operating budgets – RDEL & CDEL
  • To liaise with Partners in platform CRs and annual cost card process
  • To prepare annual cash forecasts.
  • To prepare end of period accruals returns.
  • To perform end of month accounting procedures –journal processing - ensuring its correct application in the local budget accounts and/or programme budget.

  • Relevant experience in Accounting or Finance
  • IT literate to an advanced level
  • Experience using Oracle eBusiness Suite or similar finance system
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish 
  • Bachelor Degree in Public Accounting or Finance, or Accountant who is part of a Professional Body such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA.
  • Five years of relevant experience in finance areas
  • Previous experience in Shared Services Centres or Regional Hubs

Working Patterns:

Expectation is to work under a hybrid model in line with Embassy’s policy:  3 days at office and 2 days working from home. Candidate needs to be based in CDMX.

Candidates must be able to live and work in Mexico in their own right. The successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance and professional reference checks. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount. Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’.  If during the reserve period of 6-12 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
